May is National Foster Care Month, and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) is joining Governor Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted in recognizing Ohio’s foster parents and kinship caregivers. This year, National Foster Care Month recognizes that foster care is a support system for families, not a substitute for parents. During the month of May, we renew our commitment to ensure a bright future for the nearly 16,000 children and youth in foster care, and we celebrate those who make a meaningful difference in their lives. To show our continued support of foster families and our commitment to assist in recruiting additional foster parents, ODJFS will be engaging in a month-long social media campaign celebrating National Foster Care Month.
